Promotion Committee Meeting

Discover Downtown Washington’s Promotions Committee helps tell downtown’s story and gives people reasons to experience it for themselves. We work to highlight our local businesses, celebrate our community’s character, and bring people together through events, shopping, dining, arts, and history.

Our work includes:

• Planning events and experiences: Developing and supporting activities such as Hop & Shop, Shop Small Business Saturday, and Christmas on Main that bring people downtown and encourage them to explore.

• Spotlighting local businesses: Finding creative ways to introduce shoppers and visitors to our merchants, restaurants, services, and attractions—and encourage them to return.

• Sharing downtown’s story: Promoting the people, places, history, and everyday activity that make downtown Washington distinctive through social media, print materials, videos, and local media.

• Coordinating seasonal campaigns: Bringing businesses and community partners together around holiday promotions, shopping opportunities, and shared marketing efforts.

• Supporting community activities: Helping spread the word about events hosted by downtown businesses and partner organizations, alongside Discover’s own programs.

• Learning what connects: Gathering feedback from businesses, participants, and visitors to understand what works and improve future events and promotions.

Promotion is about building lasting connections between people and downtown. We want residents to take pride in what’s here, visitors to feel welcome, and local businesses to benefit from the activity we help create.

Business owners, creative thinkers, event enthusiasts, and community members are welcome to bring their ideas and help share what downtown Washington has to offer.
