Economic Vitality Committee Meeting

Discover Downtown Washington’s Economic Vitality Committee focuses on the people, businesses, and investment that keep our downtown moving forward.

We work to support existing businesses, encourage entrepreneurship, and attract new businesses that complement our downtown district. That includes connecting business and property owners with resources, identifying opportunities for growth, and helping others see the possibilities in available storefronts and buildings.

Our work includes:

• Supporting local businesses: Listening to business owners, understanding their challenges, and connecting them with helpful resources, education, and partnerships.

• Encouraging new businesses: Welcoming entrepreneurs and helping prospective owners explore opportunities to open or expand downtown.

• Promoting available properties: Highlighting vacant storefronts and underused spaces to encourage occupancy, investment, and thoughtful reuse.

• Building partnerships: Working with property owners, economic development partners, city leaders, and community organizations to support downtown’s long-term economic health.

• Tracking progress: Gathering information about business activity, vacancies, and investment to help guide priorities and tell the story of downtown’s growth.

Economic vitality is about creating the conditions for businesses to succeed and for downtown to remain a place where people want to shop, dine, work, and invest.

Business owners, property owners, entrepreneurs, and community members are welcome to bring their perspectives and help move this work forward.
