Discover Downtown Washington Announces Mural Grant Program

WASHINGTON, Indiana – The Mural Grant Program, organized by Discover Downtown Washington, will select one recipient to receive a grant to complete a mural in the downtown district, and will receive $3,500 upon completion of the work and adherence to the mural grant guidelines.

This program is intended to create an opportunity that will enhance arts and culture, while building upon the identity and values in downtown Washington, Indiana. This grant was made in partnership with the City of Washington and Daviess County, as funding comes from the remaining marketing fund from the Quick Impact Façade Grant Program of 2023.

A mural in a downtown can have a significant impact on marketing and business in several ways. A well-designed and visually appealing mural can attract attention and draw more visitors to the area. An increase in foot traffic can benefit local businesses by potentially increasing sales and visibility. Additionally, murals help create a unique sense of place and community identity, which can be leveraged in marketing efforts to promote the area as a destination for both residents and tourists. The presence of murals can also enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the downtown area, making it more inviting and memorable for visitors, thus contributing to a positive brand image for businesses located there. Overall, murals can play a valuable role in shaping the marketing and business landscape of a downtown rural community. The deadline to apply is September 30th.

Guidelines and criteria to apply can be found online at www.discoverdowntownwashington.com/programs. Contact Amber Warden at office@discoverdowntownwashington for more information.
